Diagnostics and Treatments
Care focused on digestive diseases, motility disorders, and integrative medicine

Belching
The release of air or gas from the stomach through the mouth. It can be normal: after meals, when drinking soda, or speaking too quickly. But it deserves attention if it becomes very frequent or is accompanied by pain, heartburn, nausea, or abdominal bloating.

Heartburn / Reflux
A burning sensation across the chest that can reach the throat. It usually indicates the presence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Difficulty Swallowing (Dysphagia)
Difficulty in swallowing food or liquids. It may feel like food “gets stuck” in the throat or chest and can cause choking, coughing, or shortness of breath. Causes may be esophageal (such as inflammation, stricture, spasm, or motility disorders), neurological, or muscular.

Abdominal Pain
Any pain felt in the abdomen, which may occur in different locations and intensities, with gastrointestinal, urinary, gynecological, musculoskeletal, or metabolic causes.

Vomiting
The forced expulsion of stomach contents through the mouth. It may have gastrointestinal, neurological, metabolic, or infectious origins.

Fatty Liver (Hepatic Steatosis)
His occurs when there is an excessive accumulation of fat in the liver. In most cases, this condition is silent and is associated with being overweight, diabetes, high triglycerides, or alcohol consumption.

Constipation
This occurs when a person has difficulty passing stool, either because they go to the bathroom fewer than 3 times a week, need to strain a lot, or the stool is very hard and produced in small amounts. It may be related to diet, sedentary lifestyle, medications, or intestinal changes.

Diarrhea
An increase in the number of bowel movements (more than 3 per day) or a change in stool consistency to loose or watery stools. It can be acute or chronic, and causes include infections, inflammation, food intolerances, medications, or systemic diseases.

Blood in Stool
May appear as bright red or dark blood. It can be a sign of hemorrhoids, fissures, polyps, diverticula, or more serious conditions such as cancer.

Fecal Incontinence
Involuntary loss of stool. It may occur due to muscle weakness, neurological disorders, or anorectal injuries.

Chest Pain
A sensation of pain or discomfort in the chest. It may have several causes, including gastrointestinal ones such as acid reflux or esophageal spasms.

Hiatal Hernia
This occurs when part of the stomach “moves up” into the chest through an opening in the diaphragm. It may cause heartburn, chest pain, or reflux, especially after eating or when lying down.

Gastroesophageal Reflux (GERD)
The backflow of stomach contents into the esophagus. It may cause esophageal inflammation, heartburn, regurgitation, cough, hoarseness, and chest pain.

Achalasia
A motor disorder of the esophagus in which food has difficulty passing from the esophagus into the stomach. It can cause the sensation of food “getting stuck,” choking, regurgitation, and chest pain.

Gastric Ulcer
A sore in the stomach caused by acid, Helicobacter pylori infection, or anti-inflammatory medications.

Duodenal Ulcer
A sore in the beginning of the small intestine (duodenum). It can be caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, excess stomach acid, smoking, or excessive alcohol consumption.

Helicobacter pylori
A bacterium that lives in the stomach and, in some people, causes inflammation of the stomach lining or the beginning of the small intestine (duodenum). It may lead to pain, gastritis, stomach or duodenal ulcers, and, in rare cases, increase the risk of gastric cancer.

Hepatic Steatosis (Fatty Liver)
The accumulation of fat in the liver, usually without symptoms.

Cholelithiasis – Gallstones
The formation of stones in the gallbladder, which may cause abdominal pain and, in severe cases, require surgery to remove the gallbladder.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
A functional bowel disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort associated with changes in bowel habits, such as diarrhea, constipation, or both, without detectable structural damage.

Crohn’s Disease
A chronic inflammatory disease of the gastrointestinal tract, which can affect any part of the digestive system from the mouth to the anus, but most often involves the end of the small intestine and the colon.

Ulcerative Colitis
A chronic inflammatory disease of the intestine that affects only the colon and rectum.

Diverticulosis
The presence of small pouches (diverticula) in the intestinal wall, usually in the colon. These diverticula often cause no symptoms; however, when they become inflamed or infected, the condition is called diverticulitis.

Intestinal Polyps
Small growths that appear in the intestine. Most are benign, but some may turn into cancer if not removed.

Colorectal Cancer
A tumor in the large intestine (colon) or rectum. Often it develops from small polyps, and symptoms may include blood in the stool, pain, or changes in bowel habits. The earlier it is detected, the more effective the treatment.

Hemorrhoids
Dilated veins in the rectum or anus that may cause anal pain, itching, or blood in the stool.

Globus Sensation
The feeling of a lump in the throat, unrelated to swallowing, often associated with stress or reflux.

Acute Pancreatitis
A sudden inflammation of the pancreas, usually caused by gallstones or alcohol, but also by medications, infections, or other factors. It is characterized by severe pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Iron or Vitamin B12 Deficiency
Associated with digestive disorders and nutrient malabsorption.
